procedures to produce and interpret images that optimize clinical decision-making.
Body Imaging
Radiologists with expertise in Body Imaging are specialists in cross-sectional
imaging techniques that are used to diagnose and follow disease processes
of the chest, abdomen and pelvis. They provide expert interpretations
of radiography (x-rays), CT, ultrasound, MRI and PET images.

Musculoskeletal Radiology
Radiologists with a subspecialty in Musculoskeletal Radiology focus on
the diagnosis of traumatic, degenerative, and metabolic bone and joint
disorders, as well as tumors of bone and muscle. They provide expert
interpretation of standard x-rays, MRI, CT and PET images to detect
subtle abnormalities involving the bones and surrounding tissues in
the evaluation of sports injuries, joint pain and arthritis.

Neuroradiology
Radiologists who specialize in Diagnostic Neuroradiology have expertise
in the diagnosis and treatment of disease processes affecting the central
nervous system, including the brain, head and neck regions, and spine.
They provide expert interpretation of CT, ultrasound, MRI and PET images of those
areas.

Pediatric Radiology
The subspecialty of Pediatric Radiology is concerned with the radiological
manifestations of diseases of children and the unique imaging needs
of the pediatric patient. Expert diagnostic interpretations are provided
using x-rays, ultrasound, MRI, CT and PET/CT images. The focus and
training of this pediatric subspecialty optimizes care for infants
and children, with special attention to the emotional needs of these
patients and their families.
OIA radiologists with this subspecialty include:

Nuclear Medicine
Radiologists with expertise in Nuclear Medicine are specialists in techniques
that use radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat a variety of medical
conditions. These techniques often provide important physiologic information
about body processes that cannot be obtained with standard radiographic
techniques.
OIA radiologists with this subspecialty include:
Bryan Leyton, MD
PET (Positron Emission Tomography)
Radiologists with subspecialty expertise in PET are experts in the interpretation
of
images using positron emission tomography. A PET scan uses special radiological
pharmaceuticals to trace abnormalities in the targeted area of the patient’s
body.
OIA radiologists with this subspecialty include:
Daniel Smoots, MD

Vascular & Interventional Radiology
Radiologists who specialize in Vascular & Interventional Radiology
use fluoroscopy, CT, PET and ultrasound to guide catheters, needles and
balloons through the skin by needle puncture to perform a variety of
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. These include angioplasty/stent
placement, chemoembolization, radiofrequency
ablation, vertebroplasty and many others.
